Condition/Comments: This is the very first Gunther label variation, from 1935, and includes the U permit 400 as well as the singular patent pending statement. This particular can has provenance to the Jim Plant collection and was likely part of his renowned American Can Co. find that included numerous extremely early and rare instructional labels. This can is in superlative condition, with just hints of wear beneath the top rim and some areas of yellow paint visible at the bottom of the orange side panels near the seam--likely a factory paint flaw as opposed to the effects of age. All original and air sealed.
