It’s form is that of the Lion tray shown earlier (lot 139) making not just the subject matter, but the tray itself, that much more unusual. And beautiful. The condition is excellent, with just a few scattered scraches and flakes. The paint has a little crazing but is still strong and the colors remain bold and bright. This tray is a real head-turner. As Cupid did with Psyche, you may fall in love the first time you see it. Very scarce: this is the only example of this tray we have seen hit the market.
