Reference: USBC 113-10, USBCOI 669Brewery: Peter Doelger Brewing Corp. Harrison, New JerseyManufacturer/Plant: American Can Co.Date of manufacture: circa 1930sCanning Code: 17 - Jersey City, NJContents/Type: 12 ozCondition/Comments: This label variation carries a rarity rating of R9 on grade in the USBCOI. While this one does not qualify as on grade, it still qualifies as very rare and you may search a lifetime before you find that on grade example ... if you ever do. Our can has a rough surface with spidering and under-the-paint humidity, an area of heavier oxidation at the top right of the seam, and two fine scratches that encircle the can as a result of the top having been cut out with a can opener. It is very displayable and is clearly an indoor can. It was at one time converted into a homemade drinking mug and had a handle attached. The handle has been removed and the solder ground off as evidenced by the swirls on the seam. A new top has been added with opener gear marks visible beneath the rim. We believe the bottom to be original but punched when the new top was added. See brightly lit photos. For more info or questions regarding this lot contact Dan via email.
