Comments/description: This is the version with the OPERATION DEEP FREEZE seal at top front (rather than a castle, which is depicted on the sides). Issued in the late 1960s, the beer was brewed in New Zealand and provided to participants of the U.S. military Operation Deep Freeze. The operation began as a series of expeditions to Antarctica to establish bases there, and eventually transitioned to an ongoing annual support operation by the military for the National Science Foundation that still continues today.
