Comments/description: Scarce back bar commemorative in honor of Schaefers 70th anniversary in 1912. Condition is very good to excellent, with a small chip re-adhered at the left rear corner. There are other small nicks to the paint and plaster at the edges and high points as shown. There is silver highlighting to some areas that may not be original to the piece as it appears to be randomly applied in some areas where not expected. These include on the barrel end outside of the laurel wreath encircling 70, at the top and bottom edges of the base, and some of the corners of the barrel stand. While it makes perfect sense to find it on the barrel hoops and bung, these may not be original. We could not find another example with which to compare. This item may have been distributed to attendees of an anniversary dinner held November 23, 1912 or to employees of the brewery at the time. Manufactured by Macnani Manufacturing Co. of New York.
