A portion of the proceeds from this lot will be donated to NABA. A very early, circak 1880s diamond-shaped label for Bohemian Hop Bitters, manufactured by Jos. Schwarzenbach & Son. The label features a pastoral scene with rolling hills, trees, and a farmhouse, set against a backdrop of text indicating it is made with imported hops and Germania mineral water. Consignor states it came from a Schwarzenbach family member. It is not in the labels books and we have not seen another example of this label. This may even pre-date 1884 as the reference was to "Sons" starting then. This would have been at the first brewery site in Germania, Pennsylvania. About 5 . 3.5 inches.
Condition
The label is in excellent condition with vibrant colors and clear text. There are no visible tears or significant damage.
