Burkhardt Brewing Co., Akron, Ohio. Continental Can Co., 12-ounce, circa 1950s. USBC 100-34; label copyright 1938.

Scarce yellow-and-blue Mug Ale label, interestingly presented here as an actual drinking mug—with its early metal handle still riveted to the seam. The illustrated foaming tankard, pipe and salt shaker make this a particularly fitting label for such a piece.

Condition

We appreciate this example remaining in its as-found mug configuration, preserving the character and history of the piece. Excellent yellow and blue color and a strong display face. Photos show scattered scratches, small marks and aging, and opener teeth marks along top rim. An appealing crossover between beer-can collecting and brewery advertising.
