A portion of the proceeds from this lot will be donated to NABA. Note The mis-spelling of the "Pabst" as "Papst." The Pabst was a renowned, high-end bar operated by William F. Meidroth on the ground floor of the Niagara Building in downtown Peoria, Illinois, starting around 1890. It was historically noted for its ornate setup, often described as a top-tier establishment in the early 1900s local history accounts. This antique stamp and match box features ornate scrollwork and advertising for "Wm. F. Meidroth, Proprietor of The Papst, Peoria, Ill.". The interior is marked "Keep Your Stamps Here" and "Patented Oct. 11, 1899". A charming piece from early 20th century advertising. About 3 x 1.5 inches.
