Comments/description: This is THE ONLY example of this sign we have seen. Features a rowdy gathering of 5 well-dressed men in powdered wigs enjoying their mugs of beer around a table, an amazed barkeep watching the group from behind the Rueter's Sterling Ale bar, a dog sitting (American Staffordshire?) in a chair, a known porcelain sign hangs on the wall. and other embellishments. The caption in the bottom left corner quotes Longfellow's Tales of a Wayside Inn: How they laughed and stamped and pounded, Till the Tavern roof resounded, And the host looked on astounded, As they drank the ale. Signed by artist Frank T. Merrill. Though litho is small, about 14.5 x 9.5 inches, it is complete. Outstanding condition with no noteworthy flaws. About 16 x 11.25 inches framed. All items are original unless otherwise noted. For questions, feedback, or to sell a similar item contact Dan via email.
