Comments/description: Lot contains 2 items from a tiny Chicopee, MA, brewer, both from the late 1890s. One is a wood bottle crate, the other an embossed blob top bottle with rubber stopper and bail. The crate is crudely stamped with the brewer ID on both ends, one of which was applied at an angle so, while sharply defined where applied, some letters are missing from the left edge due to the angled application. The other end is much less crisp and is quite rounded and/or worn, with some of the text missing where it overlaps the handle hole. S A JACOBS is stamped into the top. Very interesting opening mechanism in place where the user must insert a finger into the hole in the top lid to press a spring catch that releases a tab on the lid that allows it to open. At some earlier time of its life the crate was painted green. The bottle is boldly embossed and the enclosure is intact making for a nice display. All items are original unless otherwise noted.
