Comments/description: Very intriguing sign loaded with symbolism. Considering Barbarossa (aka Frederick I) was the Holy Roman Emperor, the pagan ravens and gnomes are something of a juxtaposition in this piece. Perhaps it represents Fredericks additional reigns as King of Germany and King of Italy, to which non-Christians might respond more favorably. Displays very nicely as the depth created by the sculptured effect is quite successful. All items are original unless otherwise noted.
