Comments/description: This tray commemorates the brewers award at the international Panama Pacific Expo in 1915. It does not claim a specific award such as gold or silver; rather merely states MEDAL OF AWARD with the metallic color of the medals easily interpreted as either gold or bronze - but implying gold! It should be noted that multiple gold, silver, and bronze medals were awarded within categories meaning there were multiple recipients, not necessarily winners per se. California brewers alone, for example, are reported to have garnered 76 awards. A total of 20,344 medals were distributed during the event across all categories from agriculture and fine arts to engineering and food products - and many more. So the medal claim made on this tray is not quite as impressive as it may seem at first glance. This is an excellent example with a great shine and perfect color, just minor marks and a little rubbing of the gold on the rim edge. Nice tray. All items are original unless otherwise noted.
