Comments/description: Prohibition era curled corner sign uses image 87 from the Meek Co. stock catalog titled MURIETTA. Advertises Capitol Brewing Non-tox non-alcoholic malt or cereal beverage. On these pieces, the outer green oval with the text appears to be an aftermarket addition onto which the green is hand-painted and the white text silk screened onto the original sign. Brush strokes are visible in the green and the screen mesh pattern is clearly visible in the text. The green oval obscures original factory text advertising for Mile High Beer from Consumers Brewing, also of Denver. Vestigial traces of the original imprint can be seen when angled to the light. Certainly vintage and likely legitimate, this is seen on multiple copies and is not likely an attempt to deceive. The piece is in very good condition with just a few larger blemishes visible from display distance, and most of the smaller ones blended into the artwork. Not evident are 3-4 kinks/creases across the top right corner, another at each of the lower right curls, and a few shallow dings on the womans hat and hair. The center portrait area is embossed above the flat black and green background areas. Excellent surface quality with no crazing and a nice shine. All items are original unless otherwise noted.
